Detailed Itinerary for Climbing the Sirimon - Naromoru route of Mount Kenya in 5 Days
Ascend North face, descend West face
The Sirimon Track, is one of the finest approaches to the peak area. It offers some of the best views of the main peaks, with a gradual climb which can be done leisurely. We traverse the mountain by ascending the Sirimon Track and descending through Naromoru track. Camping route.
Day 1. Naromoru – Sirimon gate- Judmaier camp.
Depart Nairobi at 0800hrs and drive to Mount Kenya region- 3 hours drive to Naromoru town. Arrive at Naromoru by 1100hrs where you start sorting personal equipment for the mountain trek. Then be driven to the Sirimon Park Gate where you sign and start a 3hrs hike through the equatorial forest to the camp for overnight (3,300m) Packed lunch is served on route. An easy trek in the afternoon to help acclimatization. Overnight Judmaier Camp (3300m) in the high altitude mountain tents.

Day 2. Judmaier camp – Liki North camp.
After breakfast hike up through Sirimon Track to Likii North Valley through the moorland to Liki North. The camp is set between two beautiful little valley below the subsidiary peaks of Teleki and Sendeyo, two ancient parasitic vents of the main peaks. Lunch is served at Lunch point. Overnight in high altitude tents- Full board.

Day 3. Liki North- Shiptons camp.
After breakfast trek out of the North Valley and into the Mackinders Valley, one of the broadest valleys on the mountain, with many giant groundsels. The camp is set at the head of the Mackinder’s Valley, just below the main peaks of Batian and Nelion. Overnight at Shiptons Camp in high altitude tents- Full board.

Day 4. Shiptons camp – Pt.Lenana 4985m – Met. Station.
A per-dawn start at 0400hrs is made to ensure a successful summit bid and in time for clear view of the majestic scenery after sunrise. With the help of the guide ascent to the third highest peak ( point lenana -4985 m, 4- 5 hr), at the peak on a clear day you can be able to see Uhuru peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro- a few minutes for celebration and photos then descend down through the Austrian to Teleki lodge to Teleki Lodge for breakfast and rest. Afternoon proceed to hike down for 5 hours through the moorland to Met. Station to arrive late afternoon. Packed lunch is served en-route to the camp. Arrive at the camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast depart Met. Station camp and hike through the forest to Naromoru parkgate where you find vehicle waiting and be transferred to Nairobi.
